SOCIAL CHANGE
Social change is the primary goal of SHARE’s leadership development. As the women become empowered economically, socially, and personally, they become leaders and begin questioning age-old traditions that hold women back. Programs are designed and managed by the women. They participate in a series of meetings where they question, explore, and learn about topics with which they may have little previous experience, while they enhance their analytic and presentation skills. Two representatives from each artisan group form the leadership committee for each program; over time, each woman gets a chance to be part of a leadership committee. In addition, SHARE provides social workers and a psychologist who facilitate the process.

PROGRAMS
The Global Dialog program grew from our awareness that the artisans and our customers in the United States inspire each other, and the desire to find ways that they can be better connected. Communicating with each other, the artisans see how the customers value their work, and also see that they all share similar struggles. Knowing this encourages the artisans to explore their potential. They choose areas of their lives they want to change or improve, such as stress management, time management, or the way society sees beauty affects their confidence, and through the program work to address these issues.
Arman Club is a program that gives the artisans’ children access to opportunities they wouldn't otherwise experience. The Arman Club helps them set goals in school, provides vocational guidance, and teaches about conflict resolution, good sportsmanship, and responsible sexual behavior, with the goal of helping them become responsible young citizens.
Social Action gives women the opportunity to become agents of change and leaders in their communities. They effect change by focusing on attitudes toward women, health issues, and the improvement of civic amenities. As part of this program, the women perform street plays to draw attention to the problem of domestic violence.
